2026-2027 SPELLING BEE  
Clara Barton PTSA is proudly bringing back the Spelling Bee after the great success last year. Clara Barton has enrolled in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. It is one of the nation’s oldest and popular competitions with the purpose of helping students to improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives.

ENROLLMENT  
Registration is open to all students in Grades 1 through 5.  Cost is $30, which is paid online at the time of registration. Last day of registration is on 10/20/2026 (Tuesday. The fee covers enrollment, optional practice sessions, access to the Scripps National Spelling Bee 2027 Study List, qualifying written test, a participation certificate, and supplies. This year we have divided the practice session into two categories according to the grades to enhance their knowledge about the spellings.

  • School Spelling Bee Finals: Feb 26th Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Clara Barton Library

Q: What is a Spelling Bee? How do I participate?

The Spelling Bee in Clara Barton is a PTSA initiative at the school level. The Spelling Bee competition is conducted based on the Scripps National Spelling Bee format.

  

Q: How do I register my child to participate?

Please complete and submit the registration form that is found on the Clara Barton PTSA website before the mentioned deadline.

 

Q: Our family is out of town for the written round preliminary / final round for the school level spelling bee, Can we retake?

We cannot provide another date for any reason as it is a competition measured against other participants.

 

Q: How should my child prepare?

We will provide the word list and recommended books to read to prepare at home recommended by the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Please attend orientation for more details.
