Walking School Bus

A walking school bus is a simple, fun way for students to get to school together on foot with adult supervision. Instead of riding a traditional bus, kids meet at a designated spot and walk as a group, building healthy habits, reducing traffic, and starting the day with fresh air and friends. It’s also part of the City of Redmond’s SchoolPool program, which encourages students to walk, roll, carpool, or ride the bus to school.

The walking school bus also gives students a chance to connect with teachers, classmates, and families before the school day begins. Adults help guide the route and model safe walking practices, while students enjoy a relaxed, social start to the morning. Parents are welcome to join the walk.

This Wednesday and Thursday, May 20–21, teachers will be ready to meet walkers at 8:55 a.m. at two locations: NE 122nd & 164th CT NE and NE 122nd & 175th PL NE. From these east and west meeting points, students will walk with CBE teachers and friends all the way to school. We can’t wait to see our Bobcats join the fun of the walking school bus!
