Clara Barton Elementary will be hosting a Disability Awareness Fair on November 10th from 9:30 AM to 2:25 PM.

Purpose of the Disability Awareness Fair

At CBE, we believe that creating an inclusive environment where every student feels seen and valued is paramount. The Disability Awareness Fair aims to educate our students about the diverse abilities and unique challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. Through interactive activities, students will gain a better understanding of how people with disabilities contribute meaningfully to society, while learning about the importance of empathy and inclusion.

It’s essential to remember that individuals with disabilities lead fulfilling lives, pursuing their goals and dreams just as their peers do, albeit in ways that may differ. By helping our students recognize this, we foster a school community that champions respect, understanding, and acceptance.

Call for Volunteers

This event cannot be successful without the help of our amazing community members! We are seeking parent volunteers to support this important day. Please sign up for a time slot here

Volunteers will assist by guiding students through activities. After signing up, volunteers will receive an email with more information about the role they will have at each station, as well as a link to a video on how the stations will run. Please note that all volunteers must be LWSD-approved. If you are not yet approved but would like to help, you can begin the application process via the Lake Washington School District website.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to making Barton Elementary a welcoming, inclusive, and thriving place for all students. Together, we can ensure that this Disability Awareness Fair is both a memorable and educational experience that leaves a lasting impact on our students.
