Register for Math Challenge Tournament 2021
The Math Challenge Tournament, a national mathematics competition, provides a valuable and fun opportunity for our students to showcase their skills in a variety of math topics.
Note: The Tournament is different than the biweekly Math Challenge and requires registration by Monday, November 29.
Who: Grade 2-5 students (Grade 1 students are welcome to participate, but will be competing at a Grade 2 level)
Where: Online. You will receive details in your email after registration.
When: Saturday, December 11, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Duration: 1 hour long test.
Cost: $20 per student. Please register with the Clara Barton PTSA give back CODE: 214, so that our PTSA receives 15% of the registration fee. Thank you!

Register for Geography Passport Club by Oct 6
Clara Barton PTSA is excited to bring Passport Club, a geography enrichment program, FREE to students and families. The virtual program helps students learn the locations and pronunciations of the world’s countries. From there, students build an understanding of what goes on within the almost two hundred independent nations on our globe.
Registration is NOW open. Please register by October 6th 9pm.

Join Math Challenge! 1st Challenge is Available Sept 24.
The Math Challenge Program is designed to give all students, K through Grade 5, opportunities to sharpen their mathematical problem-solving skills. Clara Barton families have an avenue to be involved and enjoy math through fun, engaging math problems. It’s FREE. A new challenge will be released every other week starting September 24 and will continue through May.

Crunch numbers and sharpen math skills with fun, interactive games at this virtual math night event presented by Clara Barton PTSA in partnership with Mathnasium.
May for Math breaks students into groups of 8 for a 45-minute session to participate in hands-on math activities.

Bobcats place 3rd in regional math competition
It’s an extraordinary year for competitions and extraordinary Bobcats came out on top! Clara Barton Elementary 5th grade students placed 3rd of 12 schools in the most competitive Math is Cool, Division 1 Western Region team competition on March 3. Individual Laura W. (Ms. Chan) placed 1st with a score of 96/98…the highest scorer statewide. GRRRREAT work mathletes! Final results are still coming but watch for Clara Barton in the master round in May. Go, Bobcats, go!

Thirty-four finalists competed in the Clara Barton Spelling Bee on February 27. Kudos to all the students who participated!
The 2020-2021 winners were:
School Champion: Manvik (5th grade-level)
1st Runner Up: Vidhula (1st grade-level)
2nd Runner Up: Anvitha (4th grade-level)
Congratulations to all the grade-level winners including Aarohi (2nd grade) and Aneesh (3rd grade). Manvik will represent the school at the upcoming Regional Spelling Bee Prelims.
A big thank you to Ms. Annette Chan (4/5 Quest) who helped with pronunciations and the challenging virtual format — the event would not have succeeded without her help. Also, thanks to judges Ann and Heidi from Timberline Middle School, parent volunteers, and PTSA.
PTSA recruits Jr Art Docents
Does your 4th or 5th-grade student enjoy art and have an interest in sharing their creativity with other Bobcats? Clara Barton PTSA seeks Junior Art Docents to help with virtual art docent lessons accessible to all grades. Please contact Art Docent Chair, Natalie Chavez, with interest or questions.
Math is Cool competition registration is open
Math is Cool is a mathematics contest designed for students in Grades 4-5. Students in Grade 3 are allowed to participate and compete up with Grade 4. This year the champion round is online. If you’d like to register your student, click the button below. Registration is open until January 15. After registration closes, the Coach will contact parents with details about a web conference to explain how to attend the online competition. Go, Bobcats, go!

Parents, please confirm your student has entered their name, grade and teacher’s name when submitting responses. Failure to do so disqualifies them from random prize drawings and will not count toward meeting the requirement to win an end-of-year trophy.
